By leveraging the Agoric Orchestration API to manage a complex workflow of chains, wallets, and contracts, Native will make it a seamless experience to purchase native Bitcoin directly from your favorite Cosmos wallet, without the need for bridging or wrapping.

Alongside the emergence of numerous Bitcoin scaling solutions and L2s, wrapped BTC variants, like wBTC, have fragmented liquidity and limited Bitcoin’s programmability. Siloed projects have led to disconnected solutions that hamper composability and create complex user experiences across various wallets, application interfaces, and chains. These barriers slow Bitcoin’s potential to become a key financial instrument across the broader Cosmos ecosystem.

Under the hood, Native will rely on Agoric Orchestration to coordinate a variety of infrastructure primitives to enable a frictionless native Bitcoin experience. The diagram below highlights Native’s proposed solution:
In the example diagram above, Bob, a user with BTC in his dWallet, wants to sell his BTC for IST. On the other side, Alice, a user with IST in her Keplr wallet, is looking to purchase BTC. Though the order of operations may seem overwhelming, this is precisely where Agoric Orchestration shines in its ability to coordinate numerous actions over a period of time. The goal? Easy access to native BTC in Cosmos.
Expanding opportunities for Bitcoin
This integration will unlock significant opportunities to drive liquidity and TVL across Cosmos DeFi protocols, putting otherwise idle assets to use. Developers within Cosmos will also gain access to native Bitcoin liquidity for innovative financial products, such as staking derivatives or collateralized loans. Once live, the Cosmos DeFi landscape could see new applications that connect Bitcoin with key Cosmos-native assets like ATOM, OSMO, and stablecoins.
